Stephany + Aaron's Engagement Session

Steph and Aaron’s story is one filled with love, adventure, and incredible milestones. Earlier this year, Aaron popped the big question during a family cruise vacation—what better way to start the next chapter? But the magic didn’t stop there! The two also finished building their Airbnb together this summer, tucked away in the beautiful Black Hills of Deadwood, South Dakota. Their A-frame cabin was something we had chatted about for years, and to see it come to life was nothing short of amazing. And now, here we are, capturing the essence of their love in the very space they built together.

Steph and I go way back—we've been friends since I first moved to Sioux Falls about five years ago, so shooting their in-home session at the cabin felt extra special. It wasn’t just a dream come true for them, but for me as well! I remember when we’d casually talk about the cabin and shooting there one day. Well, guess what? That day arrived, and it was absolutely perfect. Their session was full of relaxed, fun, and unique vibes that perfectly captured their personalities.

For their engagement session, we went for two distinct vibes. First, we kept things cozy and intimate in the comfort of their A-frame home. Think warm blankets, laughter, and a space that’s 100% them—simple, relaxed, and full of love. Their in-home session really captured their easy-going nature and close bond, and honestly, it was a vibe all on its own!

But we didn’t stop there. We took the fun to downtown Deadwood, where things got a little spunky and full of energy. The historic town was the perfect backdrop for a different kind of vibe—a little more urban, a little more adventurous, but still uniquely them. We ended the day with some casual, non-traditional bridal portraits that gave off a fun, carefree vibe. Using direct flash for these shots brought out Steph’s playful side, and we captured some solo shots that are nothing short of iconic!

The best part? We’re not done yet! In just a few days, I’ll be heading to the Dominican Republic to capture their wedding. I can’t wait to see how their day unfolds in such a beautiful destination and create even more memories for these two adventurous souls.

Steph and Aaron’s journey has been an incredible one, from building a home together in Deadwood to planning their destination wedding. It’s been an honor to be part of it, and I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for them!
